I mentioned pay to play last year in our article How To Boost Facebook Post So Customers Actually See Them. Social media is moving away from being a free tool used to reaching your customers to costing big bucks. Right now a good quality post on your Practice's Facebook page may reach 16% of your followers. Adding $5.00 to that same post can guarantee that your post will reach many more. We have to face facts that the days of social media being free are gone. Social networks will earn $8.3 billion in 2015, and that number will continue to rise.
Speaking of Facebook, it is still king of social media. According to the article there are 1.4 billion Facebook users and 47% of all Internet users are on Facebook. How much do your customers like you? 4.5 billion likes are generated daily.
We still believe strongly in using Google+ as a tool to help your website's SEO. However, Google+ isn't turning into a very "social" platform with only 363 million users. The bright side is that the +1 button is used 5 billion times per day.
I believe that Twitter is the best tool we have for brand awareness on the web. Of the 284 million active users, 88% are on mobile.
According to the article 53% of internet users age 18-29 use Instagram. If that is your prime demographic, Instagram can be a very valuable tool.
While your Practice may not need to reach the 2.1 billion people that use social media, it is important to know where your customers are spending their time and develop a marketing and branding strategy that will work best for your business.
